Eindhoven is the hub of technology in the Netherlands, serving as the headquarters for numerous renowned technology companies. These companies offer various industry-academia collaboration projects to Eindhoven University of Technology, which is one of the leading universities in Europe. In the 2024 QS rankings, it is ranked 124th globally. The university closely collaborates with innovative enterprises and is part of the 4TU Alliance in the Netherlands, along with Delft University of Technology, University of Twente, and Wageningen University & Research.
The Smart Biomaterials Consortium (SBMC) is a government-funded industry-academia alliance in the field of biomedical materials. It is located within the incubation center of Eindhoven University of Technology. The consortium's mission and services aim to connect the industry chain, shorten the distance between industry and academia, provide guidance for the rapid commercialization of relevant biomedical material technologies, and support startups. Its objectives closely align with those of MT3+, making it an ideal partner for mutual learning and experience sharing.

Members of MT3+ and SBMC, including CEO Dr. Jan Rietsema and Business Development Director Dr. Olga Liska-Luzi, initially introduced the distinctive developments of both centers during an online meeting. In August, Dr. I-Cheng Chen visited SBMC in person to tour their laboratories, obtaining insights into their current operational model, counseling services, and the progress of their QMS facilities' construction.
During this visit, discussions were held with SBMC regarding collaboration directions and the planning of academic exchange activities. An online seminar focusing on biomedical materials research was proposed with the aim of facilitating bilateral technical exchanges and fostering international collaboration opportunities for both research institutions, TU Eindhoven and Taipei Tech. This international experience-sharing is highly valuable for the development of MT3+, and we also aim to leverage it to establish connections with more European alliances in the biomedical materials field.
