The Healthcare Technologies Institute (HTI) at the University of Birmingham pioneers cutting-edge technology to advance healthcare. With interdisciplinary expertise, HTI develops innovative solutions in medical imaging, wearable devices, regenerative medicine, AI, and bioinformatics. Collaborating with healthcare providers and industry, HTI translates research into practical applications, shaping the future of healthcare globally. The derived West Midlands Health Tech Innovation Accelerator (WMHTIA) brings together a collaborative network of industry and university experts to assist innovative businesses in navigating the critical phases of medical translation, thereby streamlining the conversion of technologies from conception to practical application.

Professor Liam Grover, Director of the HTI, participated in the Taipei Tech Biomaterials Research and Commercialization Forum organized by MT3+ in September 2023. In addition to introducing the research directions and achievements of HTI, he also participated in a Panel discussion at the forum, sharing insights on regulatory pathways in the UK and the EU, successful experiences in medical device development and commercialization, as well as guidance on fostering new startup companies.
