2026/04 Dr. You-Cheng Chang Undertakes a Three-Month Short-Term Research Program in the UK

To facilitate the translation of advanced medical device research into industrial applications and to gain a deeper understanding of international approaches to medical device R&D, technology translation, and commercialization, Postdoctoral Researcher Dr. You-Cheng Chang traveled to the United Kingdom from April 29 to July 29, 2026, for a three-month program focusing on in-depth industry observation and academic integration.

During this research visit, Dr. Chang will visit three renowned universities in the United Kingdom, including Imperial College London, the University of Birmingham (UoB), and the University of Exeter.

Through on-site visits, academic exchanges, and research observation, he will gain insights into the UK’s experience in advanced medical device research and development, technology translation, and academia–industry collaboration.

Through this overseas research experience, Dr. Chang aims to gain valuable insights into international medical device R&D and commercialization practices and to introduce internationally oriented translational thinking into Taiwan’s medical device research ecosystem.

The program is expected to further strengthen the connection between academic research and industrial needs and facilitate the translation of research outcomes into practical applications and commercial products.

In addition to conducting on-site research and academic exchanges in the United Kingdom, Dr. Chang will also travel to the Czech Republic to participate in the Tribology 2026 Conference in Prague.

At the conference, he will present a commercialization strategy focusing on a polysaccharide-based synergistic eye care solution. He will also deliver an Oral Presentation entitled “Tribological Evaluation of Oral Lubrication and Soft Tissue Interactions.” Through these presentations, he will engage in in-depth exchanges with academic institutions and industry experts from around the world, gaining practical insights into the translation and commercialization of medical device technologies.
