2024/07 Visit to Healthcare Technologies Institute at the University of Birmingham

From June 30 to July 2, 2024, HBRCC team visited the Healthcare Technologies Institute (HTI) at the University of Birmingham.

The visit included an introduction to the main goals and research areas of the High-Value Biomaterials Research and Commercialization Center (HBRCC), with a focus on addressing the gap in biomedical materials commercialization.

Assistant Prof. Chih-Yu Kuo and Research Assistant Prof. Chen-Ying Su presented their research projects and shared case studies on assisting startups in planning their commercialization strategies. HTI also shared their recent experiences, fostering an exchange of ideas.

Our team also held meetings with five HTI members.

Dr. Richard Williams, an HTI PhD student and the Co-Founder and CEO of Healome Therapeutics, shared strategies for product commercialization.

Dr. Richard Moakes and Dr. Sam Moxon discussed measures taken to sustain operations of commercialization during the COVID-19 shutdown. Prof. Anthony Metcalfe and Prof.

Jason Zhang provided insights into wound dressing research and their experiences of collaborating with renowned cosmetic companies.

These discussions offered valuable lessons for our team.
