To strengthen the connection between research outcomes and practical needs, Prof. Yu (Prof. Chi-Chung Yu) has actively supported the Center in expanding opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. Through his efforts, Distinguished Professor Hsu-Wei Fang, Director of the Center, and Professor Shao-Yi Hou were connected with the Forensic Science Center of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, National Police Agency, Ministry of the Interior, with the aim of promoting collaboration between academic research and frontline practice, and further facilitating the application and commercialization of innovative technologies.

On June 10, 2025, Prof. Yu accompanied Director Hsu-Wei Fang and Professor Shao-Yi Hou to the Criminal Investigation Bureau for an academic exchange and special presentation. During the meeting, Professor Hou introduced the team’s “high-sensitivity rapid drug screening reagent,” explaining its technical principles, research achievements, and development background. The Forensic Science Center also shared an overview of the current drug situation in Taiwan, as well as the practical need for rapid detection technologies capable of responding to emerging drugs.

Through this exchange, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on the practical application of rapid drug screening technologies. They also expressed their hope to establish substantive collaboration in the future, enabling innovative technologies developed through academic research to better address the needs of frontline forensic practice while creating further opportunities for the commercialization and real-world application of Professor Hou’s research outcomes.

Building on this collaboration, on July 8, 2025, a team from the Forensic Science Center of the Criminal Investigation Bureau visited the Center to gain a deeper understanding of its research achievements, technological development capabilities, and related research facilities. Both parties continued to exchange views on potential directions for future collaboration.

 

 

On July 15, 2025, Prof. Yu once again accompanied Professor Shao-Yi Hou on a visit to the Technology Forensics Laboratory of the Coast Guard Administration. Through exchanges with different frontline agencies, they gained further insight into practical needs in the field of forensic science and explored additional possibilities for linking research technologies with real-world application environments.

In addition to actively facilitating inter-institutional exchanges and collaboration, Prof. Yu has also continued to participate in various academic activities organized by the Center. Through teaching and close academic and technical exchanges with students, he has shared his professional experience and research perspectives, bringing new insights and broader interdisciplinary perspectives to students.

On September 26, 2025, Prof. Yu delivered a special lecture at National Taiwan Normal University, where he continued to share research achievements and professional expertise through academic exchange, fostering interaction and collaboration among different research teams.

Through this series of exchanges, visits, and teaching activities, Prof. Yu has not only helped establish a bridge between the Center and government forensic agencies, but has also strengthened the connection between research technologies and practical needs. These efforts have created further opportunities for future technology applications, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the commercialization of research outcomes.
